Hubby dropped me off at his truck yesterday in the back parking lot at church so I could drive it home. It’s not the most reliable truck but we make the most of it! So he takes off immediately in my beautiful van with all three kids.
Instantly I start to complain in my head. ‘He never waits for me. What if the truck doesn’t start? Does he even care?’
I was about to pull out my phone and start texting him about how important it is that he wait for me and that a true gentleman would have waited. Then I remembered my challenge. And I got myself in check. I started saying (out loud) all the things that I loved about him. “He’s such a good dad. He’s so sweet to drive the kids home. He cares so much about me.”
As I said these things out loud, my attitude started to change. I pulled around to the front of the church and there he was waiting. Waiting to make sure the truck started. Waiting to make sure he could follow me home.
I’m so glad I didn’t stay mad for long!
